Abuse Rumors Surround 5th Gen Girl Group—Rescene Says “It Was Street Noise”
5th generation K-pop girl group Rescene has found themselves at the center of online controversy after a recent livestream broadcast captured unsettling background audio. What began as a casual moment with fans quickly snowballed into abuse speculation—prompting the group and their agency to directly address the situation.
The incident occurred when a man’s shouting and a woman’s scream were heard during a livestream hosted by one of the members. Some viewers pointed to Rescene member May’s visibly startled reaction, sparking rumors that something troubling had happened off-camera. On social media, posts referencing the “dark side of K-pop” quickly gained traction, with one particularly viral comment calling the sound “a full-on, gut-wrenching scream.”
In response, Rescene’s agency clarified:
“Our company is located on a busy street in Nonhyeon-dong. When the windows are open, external noise can sometimes be picked up during live broadcasts.”
The agency emphasized that the scream came from outside the building, not from within the premises. They also noted that due to the office’s location near nightlife venues, similar background noise had been captured in previous livestreams.
To further calm fans, May posted a message on the group’s fan community platform:
“Our company and artists have an equal and respectful relationship. The CEO and staff always prioritize us.”
“I know some people were worried after watching the video, so I wanted to speak up. The sound definitely came from outside, not from us. Please don’t worry.”
Other members also reassured fans via livestream, echoing May’s message and directly addressing concerns to dispel the false rumors.
The original livestream that sparked the speculation remains available on Rescene’s official YouTube channel and has not been removed.
