ADOR Announces Aggressive Legal Action Amid NewJeans’ Return Discussions

ADOR has announced strengthened legal action against malicious commenters and fake-news spreaders, just as all NewJeans members expressed their intention to return to the agency.

The agency stated on November 17 that it has been “continuously monitoring domestic and international online communities, streaming platforms, and social media channels since NewJeans’ debut,” and has been taking immediate deletion requests and strict legal measures against posts infringing on the artists’ rights. ADOR added that the same level of response applies to overseas platforms.

ADOR emphasized that the situation has escalated in recent weeks, citing “malicious fake-news circulation, privacy violations, verbal abuse, and derogatory expressions” as reasons for bolstering its monitoring team. The label confirmed that it is filing criminal complaints against individuals responsible for such posts, with additional rounds of complaints already planned depending on ongoing evidence collection.

The label also took a firm stance on deepfake-related crimes, revealing that it recently rejected settlement requests from perpetrators and expressed its intent for severe punishment to investigative authorities. ADOR noted that it is “actively cooperating with law enforcement to eradicate deepfake crimes targeting artists.”

ADOR further encouraged fans to report harmful activity through HYBE’s official artist-rights reporting channel, adding that community support is “highly valuable in protecting the artists.”

Context: NewJeans’ Return Still in Negotiation

On November 12, ADOR announced that Haerin and Hyein had agreed to resume activities with the agency, stating that both members—after discussions with their families—decided to respect the court’s ruling and uphold their exclusive contracts. ADOR said it would fully support their smooth return.

However, just two hours later, Minji, Hanni, and Danielle unexpectedly released their own statement declaring their intention to return as well. Their announcement was made without prior consultation with ADOR, prompting the label to respond that it is “coordinating individual meetings with the members” and that it will work toward productive discussions.

The developments follow months of legal conflict between NewJeans and ADOR, with the court ultimately ruling in favor of ADOR regarding the validity of the group’s exclusive contracts.

As all five members express intent to return, attention now turns to how negotiations will unfold — and how ADOR’s parallel legal crackdown may shape the group’s upcoming activities.
