ADOR reaction over NewJeans’ Name Change to NJZ Before Legal Judgment on 7th
ADOR, the former agency of the K-pop group NewJeans, has expressed disappointment over the group’s decision to change their name to NJZ before a legal judgment on their contract dispute. On February 7, 2025, ADOR stated that they find it unfortunate that the members made this decision unilaterally without waiting for a court ruling on the validity of their exclusive contract.
ADOR’s Official Statement
ADOR emphasized their commitment to protecting the brand value of NewJeans and expressed readiness to meet with the members or their legal representatives to resolve misunderstandings and discuss future plans. They noted that the contract between ADOR and NewJeans remains valid until July 31, 2029, and that they will do their best to preserve the group’s brand integrity.

Background on the Dispute
NewJeans announced their name change to NJZ on February 7, 2025, and will debut under this new name at the ComplexCon Hong Kong festival in March. The group had previously declared their intention to terminate their contract with ADOR in November 2024, but ADOR has filed a lawsuit to confirm the contract’s validity and prevent any unauthorized activities.
ADOR’s Position on the Contract
ADOR maintains that the contract with NewJeans is still in effect and has taken legal action to protect their rights as the group’s agency. Despite the ongoing dispute, ADOR remains open to negotiations with the members to resolve any misunderstandings and plan for NewJeans’ future activities.
