ADOR rejects New Jeans’ request officially

In the end, ADOR did not accept the ultimatum of his group New Jeans.

“Today, the board of directors decided to convene an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders to re-elect director Min Hee-jin as an inside director,” Ador said on the 25th. “However, we discussed the demand for the return of the CEO’s position as unacceptable at this time.”

Earlier, New Jeans members’ demands to Ador and its parent company HYBE through emergency live broadcasts on the 11th, were not accepted.

In the live, “Please don’t disturb her anymore. Please return Min Hee-jin to the original ADOR, not let us work with the unfamiliar environment and people. I’m not asking you to do better but make it stay. I think you can do your job well in your own place,” New Jeans said in a live broadcast. “What we want is the original ADOR where management and production are integrated, with Min Hee-jin as the CEO. We ask HYBE to return the ADOR to the original state by the 25th.” So New Jeans’ request was to make it to the original state.

Earlier on April 25, HYBE filed a complaint against Min Hee-jin, who was the CEO of Ador at the time, on charges of professional breach of trust. Since then, they held a board meeting on the 27th of last month and newly appointed Kim Joo-young, the inside director of Ador, as the CEO.

“Former CEO Min Hee-jin will step down as CEO, but he will retain her position as an in-house director and take charge of producing New Jeans,” Ador said at the time. However, Min Hee-jin protested, saying, “This decision to dismiss is an illegal decision that directly contradicts the decision to ban shareholder contracts and voting rights.”

The members reportedly held a meeting with Kim Joo-young after the live broadcast on the 23rd. On the same day, it was reported that the New Jeans demanded Min Hee-jin’s return to representative, which they had previously requested. However, Ador said it was “unacceptable.”

“In the morning of September 11, I had already proposed to Min Hee-jin, director of the company, to take charge of producing New Jeans for the next five years,” Ador said. “Five years is the entire period of the remaining contract with New Jeans. As basic guarantees have been made on the status, duration and authority of the producer of New Jeans, we expect to have discussions on specific conditions in the future.”

According to Ador, the members of the New Jeans were given detailed answers via e-mail about what was discussed at the board meeting and various inquiries.
