aespa Karina Hints at Retirement After 5 Years? “I Want to Try Acting Too”
Karina says she wants to try everything before retiring, including acting and variety shows
aespa’s Karina opened up about her career goals and future in a newly released YouTube video on July 9. Appearing on Morning Walk, Karina spent time with fellow 2000-liner Jonathan, walking, driving, and sharing a meal while talking about life in the entertainment industry.
“I want to try everything I can do as a celebrity,” she said. “That way, I won’t have any regrets when I retire. That’s why I’ve done variety shows.” She also revealed, “I want to try acting too.”
Though she’s been in the industry for five years, Karina admitted, “I still don’t see what’s ahead. I can’t see anything clearly yet.” However, she noted she’s gotten more comfortable during shoots. “Before, I used to worry about what to say and what episodes to prepare. I even discussed with the members whether we should ‘create’ something for variety shows.”
Karina shared that she enjoys variety shows and loves talking, though she feels more at ease listening. Jonathan responded, “You’d be great as an MC. I talk too much, so I’m not that good at it,” jokingly poking fun at himself.
He also shared a touching story from their time on Synchro You, revealing that Karina gifted each cast member a personalized LP record during the final shoot. “I usually don’t express my feelings well, so I keep them bottled up,” she said. “I just wanted to say thank you.”
Jonathan added, “Yoo Jae-suk was so moved by Karina’s gesture that he said, ‘I’ll make sure to attend all your major events.’ Her perspective was so broad and thoughtful. It made me realize I should try expressing myself more too.”
