Alleged Kim Saeron Informant Reportedly Stabbed in U.S. After Refusing Massive Payout Offers
Garo Sero’s Kim Se-ui claims FBI is now investigating attempted murder tied to Kim Soo-hyun scandal
An alleged informant who allegedly held audio recordings of late actress Kim Sae-ron’s private conversations with actor Kim Soo-hyun was reportedly stabbed multiple times in New Jersey, according to a statement made by Garo Sero Institute’s Kim Se-ui during a press conference on May 7.
Kim claimed that the informant was attacked by two unidentified assailants and is now in critical condition, having been stabbed nine times in the neck. The FBI is said to be conducting a full investigation into the incident, including potential connections to an attempted contract killing.
Refusal to Sell Recordings Allegedly Led to Attack
According to Kim Se-ui, the whistleblower possessed a recording in which Kim Sae-ron allegedly spoke about her relationship with Kim Soo-hyun and personal difficulties before her death. The recordings were reportedly sought after by various individuals claiming ties to Kim Soo-hyun.
Among those named were executives from Kim Soo-hyun’s agency, Gold Medalist, who allegedly offered 4 billion KRW (approximately $3 million) in exchange for the recordings. YouTuber Lee Jin-ho also reportedly made a 1 billion KRW (approximately $750,000) offer, which was declined.
Kim alleged that five lawyers flew to New Jersey to pressure the informant in person. The next day, a lawsuit demanding 450 million KRW in damages was filed against the whistleblower’s daughter. Hours later, the whistleblower was violently attacked on the street by two assailants described as a Korean and a Chinese national. Authorities have since arrested the suspects.
Kim added that recordings exist of the suspects offering not only to drop the lawsuit but also to pay 2 billion KRW (approx. $1.5 million) in cash, provided the whistleblower handed over the recordings and re-recorded a fake statement declaring that all leaked audio was fabricated.

FBI Investigation Underway; Allegations Against Kim Soo-hyun Continue
Kim Se-ui stated that the suspects had entered the United States shortly before the attack and that their phones contained communication records with associates of Lee Jin-ho. He also confirmed that a formal request for investigation into attempted murder has been submitted to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency.
Meanwhile, Kim Soo-hyun’s legal team has filed multiple lawsuits against Kim Sae-ron’s family, Garo Sero Institute, and others involved in spreading allegations, citing defamation and violations of Korea’s anti-stalking law. The actor is also seeking a total of 12 billion KRW (approx. $9 million USD) in damages through a civil lawsuit.
In March, Kim Soo-hyun held a press conference denying all accusations, claiming that his relationship with Kim Sae-ron began only after she reached adulthood and that the whistleblower’s recordings were fabricated.
The case continues to draw intense public scrutiny, with legal action unfolding on both sides and multiple investigations now active both in South Korea and the United States.
