BAE173 J-Min Suspends Group Activities Amid Contract Dispute with Uncore

BAE173 J-Min Contract Dispute

BAE173 member J-Min has announced his decision to suspend activities with the group, citing a desire to focus on his upcoming project with the new group Close Your Eyes. This move comes amid a complex contract dispute involving his current agency, PocketDol Studio, and the management company for Close Your Eyes, Uncore.

Background and Recent Developments

J-Min debuted as a member of BAE173 in 2020 and gained significant attention after finishing third on JTBC’s audition program Project 7 in 2024. As a result, he was selected to join Close Your Eyes, a project group formed from the show. However, this transition has been complicated by disagreements over contract terms between PocketDol Studio and Uncore.

Contract Dispute and Legal Concerns

PocketDol Studio has expressed dissatisfaction with the contract proposed by Uncore, stating that it differs from what was initially discussed before J-Min’s appearance on Project 7. They also accused Uncore of unilaterally proceeding with debut preparations without a finalized management contract, which they claim amounts to coercion. This situation has led to a legal standoff, with PocketDol Studio hinting at potential legal action.

Temporary Disappearance and Resolution

In a dramatic turn of events, J-Min’s whereabouts became unknown, prompting PocketDol Studio to file a missing person report on January 8, 2025. However, he was located 20 hours later during a meeting involving other BAE173 members and agency representatives. During this meeting, J-Min expressed his reluctance to continue with BAE173.

Future Plans for BAE173

Despite J-Min’s decision to focus on Close Your Eyes, BAE173 will continue their activities with the remaining members. The group plans to release new music in the first half of 2025, maintaining their presence in the K-pop scene.
