BAP Himchan trial result?
BAP Himchan (real name Kim Him-chan, 34), who was charged with sexual assault and forced harassment for the third time, was also sentenced to a suspended prison sentence in the appeal trial.
On the 21st, the Seoul High Court Criminal Chamber 10 (senior judge Song Oh-seop and Kim Sun-ah), sentenced Himchan, who is suspected of violating the rape and sexual violence punishment law, to three years in prison and five years of probation.
Orders such as probation, 40-hour sexual violence treatment lectures, and employment restrictions for three years at institutions related to children and adolescents and those related to the disabled were also maintained.
The court said, “We dismiss both the defendant and the prosecution’s appeals against sentencing,” and judged, “It does not appear that the original ruling is out of discretion.”
BAP Himchan was accused of sexually assaulting the victim who drove him home in May 2022, then illegally filming and transmitting pornography while in contact with the victim in June next month.
Earlier in July 2018, Himchan was sentenced to 10 months in prison for sexually harassing a woman in her 20s at a pension in Namyangju and was arrested in court.
Later in April 2022, he was indicted again in the same year after he was found to have sexually harassed two women while drunk on the stairs outside a bar in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu. In addition, he was additionally charged last year after additional sexual assault crimes were revealed in May 2022.
Himchan served his first sentence of forced harassment and ended his 10-month prison sentence on December 8 last year, but was arrested and tried for additional charges of sexual assault.
Meanwhile, Himchan made his B.A.P debut in 2012, but it was virtually disbanded when two members left in August 2018 and the remaining members’ exclusive contracts ended the following year.
