Translated and Organized version of BDU interview

Q. How have you been since “Build Up” ended?

Seunghoon: We are starting our team official schedule. Shooting profile pictures and receiving a variety of songs. We are preparing for this goal because I have to officially debut as a B.D.U. No exact date has been set yet, but the group is aiming for the first half of June.

Q. It’s been a while since “Build Up” ended, but I think the joy of winning still lingers. Can you tell me how you feel?

Kim Min-seo: I never expected to win when I started the program. Even after I won, I couldn’t believe it. It was amazing when I won, but I still feel like it’s a dream and amazing.

Bit Saeon: First of all, thank you so much. “Build Up” is a survival program, so not everyone can get the same result. I’m just thankful to think that we got to win because so many fans supported us. I’m preparing this album with the intention of repaying them for their support.

Jay Chang: I wanted to prove myself on “Build Up.” Fortunately, I was recognized by my seniors and gained fans, and I’m so happy to win the title. I’ll show how B.D.U. grows up to my fans who voted for me.

Seung-hoon: We worked hard, but I think this group was made because of our fans. We will become a group that our fans can be proud of.

Q. I think what fans are most curious about is B.D.U’s debut album. Can you tell us a little bit about what kind of album it will be?

Bit Saeon: We are preparing and planning to release in the first half of the year, but I can’t tell you exactly what kind of style it is yet. Still, since we are a vocal group, we are thinking a lot about making a song that shows the vocals well. But that doesn’t mean we will just stick to the vocals, and if it’s a song that requires performance depending on the feeling of the song, we are also considering performance.

Jay Chang: Personally, I want to try a strong concept. A very strong vocal. I think the “Flower” stage is a little similar, but I don’t think we’ve shown a completely strong performance until now. I hope we can show that in the future.
My father was originally a rock band drummer. So I naturally listened to a lot of that kind of music. I’m not bad at rock vocals, either.

Kim Min-seo: I also want to do a lot of pop things. I want to sing pop songs that we can enjoy together and songs that fit into concerts that we can enjoy with audiences.

Q. Listening to it, I think the four of you prefer different styles. Do all stay get along?

Bit Saeon: We did not fight since “Build Up.” (laughs)

Seung-hoon: Actually, I thought that there would be a conflict of opinion, but, the music that the four of us wanted and sought went well with each other and we worked well together. I enjoyed it.

Q. Do you feel that the number of fans has increased a lot these days?

Seung-hoon: I was proud to see so many new fans. When I was communicating with fans, I was happy to see them saying that they became my fan after watching “Build Up.”

Kim Min-seo: I joined as an individual trainee and started at zero. At first, I didn’t have any fans at all. (laughs) Seeing so many people like and support me, I was amazed to learn that there are many people who like me. Originally, I had 200 personal SNS followers, but now I have 16,000 followers. (laughs)

Q. I think there are many fans who remember the name of the team during “Build Up” as “Hun Min Jay Bit”. What do you think about the team name change?

Jay Chang: Even before we started “Build Up,” the team name (B.D.U) was fixed. But there are more people who remember us by our old name than I thought.

Seung-hoon: There are still more people who think it’s a light of Hunminjaybit than B.D.U. (laughs)

Bit Saeon: The main writer of “Build Up” named it (Hunminjaybit), and we actually wanted to name it a nice English name, but she didn’t want it. (laughs)

Q. I’m suddenly curious, have you ever won or won first place before in your life?

Members: No. It’s the first time I’ve ever won a championship.

Seung-hoon: When would I ever experience winning a survival program? I think that’s why my family liked it more than I did. (*Strictly speaking, Seung-hoon had the experience of winning first place in a music program as CIX. He added, ‘It’s my first time to win a survival audition.’)

Bit Sae-on: Everyone experienced the ‘first place in their lives’. That’s why it was more meaningful this time.

Jay Chang: It was a joyful moment in my life.

Q. I can’t help but ask how you’re going to use the prize money.

All members: The prize money is 100 million won, so we’ll do 1/N, right?

Seung-hoon: I think everyone doesn’t want to use it because it’s meaningful money from winning for the first time. Personally, I’m thinking of buying gold. (laughs)

Kim Min-seo: I’m going to buy clothes or electronic devices and save the rest.

Jay Chang: I’m thinking of installing savings.

Bit Sae-on: I’m going to buy small gifts in return for those I’m thankful for and save the rest.

Q. What is your goal as a .B.D.U?

Jay-chang: When I was young, I dreamed of becoming a singer by watching my favorite singers, and I hope B.D.U. becomes a group that exerts that influence. While rowing up, I only listened to rock music, but when I saw K-pop, I dreamed of becoming a singer for the first time. I was influenced a lot by Sam Kim, Kim Jae-hwan, and Park Hyo-shin. My father is also happy with my music. I want to become a singer who becomes someone’s dream.

Kim Min-seo: I want to fill up the concert. First of all, K-CON is scheduled to appear now and I’m really looking forward to it. I haven’t performed many stages yet, so I want to perform many stages.

Bit Sae-on: I’d like to win the Artist of the Year award next year if possible. (laughs) To do that, I think I might run hard until my feet bleed, but I think it motivates me. (run hard until my feet bleed – meaning ‘try my best’ idiom in Korean)

Kim Min-seo: We didn’t expect to win Build Up, but we did it in the end, right? Nothing is impossible!

Q. Lastly, please say something to your fans!

Seung-hoon: First of all, I can’t wait to perform B.D.U’s songs. We’ll come back with an album that you’ve been waiting for, so please wait a little longer.

Jay Chang: I want to tell those of you who haven’t watched Build Up why our B.D.U. won.

Bit Sae-on: We’re able to have this interview because we won the “Build Up” thanks to the fans’ support. I really want to say thank you to our fans. We will be a group that meets your expectations as much as you cheered and chose us!

Kim Min-seo: When we were on the final stage, I called many people to ask them to vote. I was really desperate at the time. (laughs) Not only my family, friends and acquaintance, but also people who didn’t know me voted for me because my friends promoted again. I really want to invited them to a meal when I have the chance. I will do my best in the future!
