BTS and HYBE related to Cult?
Following the internal feud with CEO Ador Min Hee-jin of HYBE, rumors of HYBE involvement in pseudo-religion have been raised, leading to chaos.
Online communities and social medias are in full swing. Rumors of HYBE-Dahn World relations and BTS have been mentioned, leading to a battle of truth among netizens.
The reason for the suspicion of the relationship between HYBE and Dahn world began when CEO Adore Min Heejin claimed that he had been threatened by HYBE executives with the contents of New Jeans’ “OMG” music video at a press conference on the 25th. CEO Min Hee-jin did not say why she was threatened, but people paid attention to the contents of the “OMG” music video.
New Jeans OMG Music Video and Dahn World claims
Netizens claimed that the New Jeans OMG music video contained critical content about Dahn World. It is interpreted that the bear (bear doll), one of Dahn World’s symbols, appears frequently in music videos, and the Sindorim station, where Dahn World headquarter is located, is highlighted, and New Jeans’ members trying to escape from the pseudo-religion (Dahn World) are depicted. Currently, the official post of the “OMG” music video uploaded to YouTube has received a series of comments.
It has been argued that the reason why New Jeans is using a separate fan platform called Phoning, not Weverse, a HYBE fan platform, is also related to Dahn World. In addition, there are claims that BTS has something to do with Dahn World. It is noted that all of the BTS members, except for Jin, graduated from Global Cival University, which is known to be operated by Dahn World. The founder of the school, former president Lee Seung-heon, is also known as the founder of Dahn World. So they claim BTS and HYBE all are related and learned the cult.
The ones who claims, make accusations on a lot of aspects. The lyrics of some of BTS’s songs are linked to Dahn World, adding to this argument.
However, in the case of the school, many celebrities, as well as most of the BTS members, graduated from the Department of Broadcasting and Entertainment, so the debate continues.
Big Hit Music, BTS’s agency and HYBE-affiliated label, announced a legal response to various rumors surrounding BTS on the 28th. Big Hit Music said, “A number of systematic movements have been detected to defame and slander BTS,” adding, “We believe this issue is a serious violation of the artist’s reputation and will take stern action by appointing additional law firms in addition to the existing legal action.”
Even though, Big Hit Music made it clear, the accusation on them are not slowing down. The trend “하이브 단월드” (HYBE Dahn World) is on real time trend for consecutive two days. It seems a stronger action will be needed to protect BTS.
