BTS sues YouTuber Sojang, V and Jungkoook
V and Jungkook, members of idol group BTS (RM, Jin, Jimin, J-Hope, Suga, V and Jungkook), will join the legal action against the YouTube channel Taldeok concentration camp (also known as Youtuber Sojang) with their agency Big Hit Music.
As a result of the Star News report, Big Hit Music and V and Jungkook filed a lawsuit against the YouTuber Sojang in March for damages worth 90 million won. Civil 12 of the Seoul Western District Court, which received the case afterwards, will hold its first hearing on the 23rd, five months after the lawsuit was filed.
Earlier, Big Hit Music has continuously sued netizens who violate their artists’ rights on charges of defamation and insults, and said, “We are taking regular legal action against creators of malicious posts containing defamation, insults, sexual harassment, false information, and malicious slander against BTS. We will continue to take strict civil and criminal measures to ensure that malicious actors receive strong legal punishment, and as before, there is no agreement or leniency in any case.”
In particular, in June, the agency directly mentioned the YouTuber Sojang and said, “In 2022, we filed a complaint against the YouTuber for defamation and obstruction of business, and later received a decision to suspend the investigation, but the investigation was resumed after actively requesting the resumption of the investigation by securing personal information of the YouTuber Sojang and providing it to the investigative agency. He also said, “We have filed an additional civil lawsuit earlier this year to claim damages for illegal activities such as defamation of the Sojang and are about to face a civil trial soon.”
In addition, Big Hit Music emphasized, “A number of suspects have been sent to the prosecution in the last complaint, and we are waiting for the results of criminal punishment against the suspect. We will take strong legal action until the end, even if it takes some time to dispose of the suspects.”
V also said, “Oh, I’ll sue you. You’ll pay for the snack. It’ll touch your family and friends. Bye!” after receiving some of the video clips uploaded by the YouTuber through the fan community platform Weverse.
