President RM in ‘Love Your W 2023’
On the afternoon of November 24th, an event of fashion magazine W Korea was held. It was the 18th breast cancer awareness improvement campaign ‘LOVE YOUR W’. It was held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Jongno-gu, Seoul. It is a campaign that has been carrying out the slogan ‘LOVE YOUR W’ since 2006, and it is a campaign that promotes the risk of breast cancer and holds charity events to donate the proceeds to projects to support free breast cancer screening and surgery and treatment costs for low-income families.
BTS leader RM was one of the guest that was invited. BTS RM being the one who helps others and promote donates are not unusual. His attendance was not weird at all, however a video of him entering became a hot topic in Korea. It is because of one guest called him as ‘president RM’, while he passed.
What is that nickname for?
So it’s hard to satisfy everyone when it comes to politics. There is always someone everywhere who doesn’t like the current politics and the current president. People who don’t like the president always come up with new alternatives. There are few celebrities called as next president, the alternatives, as a joke. One is IM HERO (Lim Youngwoong, who is so called step-father for many young generations, as their moms or grandmas love him), and one is RM, the leader of BTS. RM started to called as ‘President RM’ because of his various areas of interest and various donations with his attitude. His interviews were broadcasted a lot, and Korean netizens are familiar with his speeches. So when they started to joke around about the next president, RM became one of the candidates.
This joke spread fast and extensively, and someone even said in front of BTS RM. It is actually first time for a person to call him a president in front of him, so netizens thought it was hilarious. Some nodded as an agreement, some thought it was a cute reaction, some are curious if he heard it or not by himself.
