FIFTY FIFTY Keena Reportedly Suffers PTSD After Face-to-Face With ‘Cupid’ Producer Ahn Sung-il
Cross-examination was requested by Keena, but resulted in psychological trauma and a halt to her activities
Cross-examination with Ahn Sung-il leaves Keena mentally shaken
Keena, a member of girl group FIFTY FIFTY, is reportedly suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) following a recent cross-examination session with Ahn Sung-il, the CEO of The Givers and the producer behind the group’s breakout hit Cupid. According to statements from her agency ATTRAKT, the face-to-face confrontation took place on April 15 and was conducted at Keena’s own request as part of her ongoing legal case.
However, after the session, Keena allegedly showed clear signs of emotional and psychological distress. She later reported symptoms consistent with PTSD, prompting ATTRAKT to announce that she would not participate in the group’s upcoming comeback activities, citing her health and mental recovery as the top priority.
Ongoing legal dispute over ‘Cupid’ copyright
Keena had previously filed a criminal complaint against Ahn Sung-il in August 2023, accusing him of forgery after he allegedly submitted a copyright agreement that included only 0.5% ownership for Keena without her consent. This triggered a long-standing legal battle between ATTRAKT and The Givers over the copyright ownership of ‘Cupid’, the viral hit that brought FIFTY FIFTY to global fame.
Although Keena was the only member to return to ATTRAKT following the group’s internal split, she remained entangled in the lawsuit. ATTRAKT has been fighting to reclaim copyright ownership, arguing that Ahn Sung-il’s actions were deceptive and exploitative.
However, on May 8, the Seoul Central District Court ruled against ATTRAKT, dismissing the agency’s claims and reaffirming The Givers’ legal hold over the copyright. The court stated that the contractual documents, creative responsibilities, and financial burdens were clearly handled by The Givers, and that no evidence supported ATTRAKT’s claim to the rights.
FIFTY FIFTY Keena’s hiatus amid ongoing stress
ATTRAKT announced on May 7 that FIFTY FIFTY Keena would sit out the group’s planned promotions. “Keena is currently not in good health, and after medical consultations, it was agreed that she requires a full recovery period,” the company stated. “We will do everything possible to ensure her safe return in the future.”
Keena has not made any personal statements regarding the PTSD diagnosis, but fans have expressed concern over her mental state and ongoing legal pressures.
With the court ruling now favoring The Givers and Keena’s health in jeopardy, the ‘Cupid’ controversy continues to cast a long shadow over one of K-pop’s most dramatic debuts in recent years.
