Former 4th gen idol speaks out
Woojin, a member of boy group TARGET, confessed the hardships of the years he spent without even receiving the minimum hourly wage and advised idol wannabe teenagers to “study how to write contracts before writing contracts.”
On the 9th, Target member Woojin wrote on his Instagram thread, “Hello, I’m a former idol. Study law and how to read a contract if possible and enter the company.”
“It’s already been six years since I debuted,” he said. “I had a big experience in my young age that I couldn’t buy, and I think I’ve grown a lot thanks to that.” “I started at the age of 16, devoted eight years, performed more than 1,000 times, and I didn’t even get the minimum hourly wage,” he said, recalling the past. “My childhood when I sometimes received hundreds of thousands of won for dignity maintenance was all.”
Woojin advised aspiring who want to become idols, “Because there is a situation like force majeure, I hope you will learn from your parents the knowledge to deal with adults and the wisdom to judge right and wrong, as well as the passion for dancing, singing, and visual acting.”
Target, the boy group that Woojin belongs to, debuted with its mini-album “Alive” in January 2018. Target, which has since released three singles by 2019, suspended its activities with the release of member ZETH’s solo song “remember” in December 2021.
