Former EXO Member Tao Launches Transparent Sanitary Pad Factory Amid Recycling Scandal

Former EXO member Huang Zitao (Z.Tao) has announced plans to launch a sanitary pad factory, pledging transparency and safety in response to recent controversies surrounding the recycling of discarded sanitary products in China. His announcement has sparked widespread attention, with many hailing his initiative as a bold step toward addressing public health concerns.

Background: The Sanitary Pad Recycling Scandal

On March 15, China’s 3.15 Gala, a consumer rights program aired by CCTV, exposed a shocking scandal involving companies repackaging discarded sanitary pads and diapers for resale. The report revealed unsanitary conditions, with products strewn across floors and workers handling them without proper hygiene measures. These repackaged items were sold online at inflated prices, generating up to 30 times the original profit margin. The revelations caused public outrage due to the direct health risks posed to women.

Z.Tao’s Response and New Venture

In a live broadcast on April 6, Tao expressed his disgust at the scandal, stating, “I cannot tolerate companies sacrificing women’s health for profit.” He announced plans to establish a sanitary pad factory that will livestream its 24-hour production process, ensuring transparency from raw material sourcing to packaging. Tao emphasized that his venture was not a reactionary move but part of a project he began months ago. He revealed that his wife Xu Yiyang and other female team members had tested the products over 90 days to ensure their safety and cleanliness.

Tao’s initiative aims to set a new standard for transparency in the hygiene product industry while addressing consumer concerns about product safety.

How Knetz Reacted to Z.Tao’s new business?

@mrisbaby: “I got curious and looked it up—it’s true. On March 15, there was an exposé about a Chinese sanitary pad factory recycling used pads. But apparently, Tao didn’t start his project because of that 3.15 incident; he had been working on the sanitary pad business for months. His wife has also been testing the products, and he says he wants to run a transparent factory. Why is Huang Zitao so funny?”

• @stranger_jelly: “Damn, people are really multi-dimensional.” • @sssssammii: “His darkest days were definitely when he was in EXO.” • @MingkeYe30041: “What’s with this guy? Did meeting the right woman turn him into a decent person? Damn, if that’s the case, he should’ve dated back then too.” • @kimottisaram: “One former EXO member gets sentenced to 13 years for rape in China, while another is building a sanitary pad factory to ensure his wife can use them safely. What a contrast.”
