former FIFTYFIFTY facing $10 million USD lawsuit

@ATTRAKT, Keena and former FIFTYFIFTY members

Attrakt, the agency of FIFTYFIFTY filed a $10 million USDdamages suit against the girl group’s three former members. Aran, Sio and Saena, and those the company alleges are involved in the breach of contract between the members and the agency were sued together. The agency said, they filed a civil suit against THE GIVERS’ CEO Ahn Sung Il and the parents of three members, too. Attrakt added they might seek additional compensation later in the legal process.

FIFTY FIFTY debuted in 2022 under ATTRAKT. ‘CUPID’, the group’s latest EP had massive influence. It landed on Billboard HOT 100 chart for 14 weeks in a row. It is a record among K-pop girl group. The group activity was in hiatus as the former FIFTYFIFTY members and Keena filed an injunction against ATTRAKT on June 19. Keena dropped her case and apologized to the agency on October 16. The other three former members had their contracts terminated by ATTRAKT on October 19. As the agency had Keena’s return, Keena represented FIFTYFIFTY in major events. Now ATTRAKT has the trademark right of FIFTYFIFTY and actual user, KEENA. So there is no legal problem of using ‘FIFTYFIFTY’ trademark rights, when former members do not have rights.

The agency said the lawsuit against three members has many meanings. It is not just for a simple damage recovery, but to establish a fair trade orders. FIFTYFIFTY case became a typical event of tempering in the music industry. So it seems the agency is trying to make sure that tempering cases will pay a huge cost.
