Former NewJeans Debut Team Member Harin Clarifies Past Trainee Comments: “No Intention to Criticize”
Harin, a Japanese model and former member of the NewJeans debut team, has spoken out about her recent interview remarks regarding her trainee days.
Harin Addresses Public Attention
On August 14, Harin posted in Japanese on her YouTube community:
“I’m thankful for the sudden attention, but also a little worried these days. What I shared in the interview was purely about my very personal feelings of frustration and disappointment from the past — it was not intended to criticize or expose any specific company or individual.”
She continued, “It was definitely a difficult time for me, but it was also a valuable opportunity that made me stronger. Even now, I support the members I laughed and cried with back then.”
Interview That Sparked Attention
Harin’s statement follows her July 12 appearance on actor Hiromitsu Takeda’s YouTube channel, where she discussed her life in Korea and recalled experiences as a K-pop trainee.
Born in 2003, Harin was previously part of the Japanese idol group Shibu3 Project. In 2020, she passed an audition for Source Music, a HYBE subsidiary, later transferring to ADOR and joining the NewJeans debut lineup.
In the interview, she revealed:
“Right before debut, due to a sudden company decision, I had to give up my dream of becoming an idol. One day, they suddenly suggested terminating my contract and told me I was the only one who had to leave.”
