Funky Studio and Yu Junwon Trial
Yu Junwon, who is in conflict with the production company Funky Studio for MBC’s “Boy Fantasy-After-School Excitement Season 2” (hereinafter referred to as “Boys Fantasy”), has suddenly postponed his first trial for compensation for damages worth 3 billion won.
The 31st Civil Affairs Department of the Seoul Central District Court postponed the first pleading date between Funky Studio and Yu Junwon, which was scheduled for the 27th, to July 25 and delivered a notice of the change date to both sides on the 26th.
Yu Junwon was confirmed as the debut group of Fantasy Boys by winning the first place in MBC’s “Boys Fantasy,” but he was in conflict due to demands for an increase in the profit distribution rate and disagreements with the company. Yu Junwon then filed an injunction against Funky Studio to suspend the validity of his exclusive contract, but has lost.
Afterwards, Yu Junwon was planning to hold his own fan meeting in Japan as well. However, Funky Studio said on May 29 that it will take strong legal action against Yu Junwon, who has violated his contract and is secretly preparing for his fan meeting. Funky Studio said it will also find out the producer of Yoo’s fan meeting, and will proceed with the content proof and request for provisional injunction to the producer and producer.
Afterwards, Funky Studio said again on the 5th, “We previously confirmed that Yu Junwon violated the contract and secretly prepared a fan meeting in Japan with Huckleberry, a Japanese performance producer, and expressed our legal response,” adding, “We recently confirmed that the domestic production company preparing for Huckleberry and Yu Jun-won’s fan meeting is a company called Apple Monster.”
“As Yu Junwon lost the application for a provisional injunction to suspend the validity of the exclusive contract, it is a clear violation of the contract to conduct events such as fan meetings without knowing the company,” he said. “We will never sit by and ask the production company ‘Apple Monster’ to provide an accurate explanation and statement.” He also said, “We plan to submit a petition to the Korea Entertainment Management Association and the Korea Entertainment Producers Association.”
