TWO STRIKES on (G)I-DLE’s COMEBACK
The group (G)I-DLE’s new song ‘Wife’ has judged ineligible for broadcasting by KBS for its controversial lyrics.
According to the results of a music review released by KBS on Monday, they judged it is ineligible. They said that the lyrics of (G)I-DLE’s ‘Wife’ is overly sexualized. As a result, the pre-released song of (G)I-DLE’s comeback cannot be heard on KBS-related channels. So the promotion before its comeback would get an obstacle. Mostly, pre-released songs are out in expectations of early promotion, but the major broadcast channels banned it.
It also ruled (G)I-DLE’s new song ‘Rollie’ unfit. KBS found that the lyrics of “Rollie” violate Article 46 of the Broadcasting Deliberation Regulations (restriction on advertising effects) by referring to the brand of a specific product. At least this song is not a title or pre-released promotional song, so it won’t be a big obstacle of (G)I-DLE’s comeback.
Ahead of their comeback on the 29th, (G)I-DLE pre-released the track ‘Wife’ from their new album ‘TWO’ on the 22nd. The song was written, composed, and arranged by member Soyeon. Soon after its release, it was embroiled in controversy over its sensationalism with its high-level lyrics. To read more about the lyric controversy, CLICK HERE.
However, it is not first time of (G)I-DLE having controversy before its comeback. They successfully turned the controversy to advantage on ‘Nxde.’ So expectation is increasing.
