HYBE denies the alleged “erasing New Jeans Career” issue

Entertainment agency HYBE has strongly protested allegations that it tried to disparage the performance of the group New Jeans.

On CBS’ “Kim Hyun Jung’s News Show,” which aired today (25th), a reporter from the Seoul Newspaper who was covering HYBE appeared and said he was asked by a HYBE official to revise an article on the performance of New Jeans Tokyo Dome.

He revealed, “I was told nonsense, HYBE pr manager distorted and disparaged the artist’s performance.” To read about the exposure of the reporter CLICK HERE

In a related development, HYBE wrote, “The journalist in question, has wrote “New Jeans sold 1.02 million albums in Japan alone,” in his article. As of that time, however, about 50,000 albums were sold in Japan and more than 900,000 albums were sold in Korea,” adding, “We requested revision because we could not leave the wrong information intact.”

The agency then stressed, “There is no reason to say negatively about New Jeans career and performance.”

Regarding the reporter’s claim that he used the strong expression as ‘gaslighting’, HYBE also explained, “In the entertainment industry, if producers and artists are strongly bonded, they can try to steal management regardless of their share. The word was out in the context of explanation”

HYBE had sent a certificate of content to the media to protest the leakage of the information on the business call with the PR manager. In this regard, HYBE protested, calling it a “serious violation of work ethics as a journalist.”
