HYBE New Jeans situation and the pouring articles

Following the U.S. Times, the BBC also highlighted the “HYBE New Jeans” incident.

On the 26th, the BBC published an article titled “Uncertified for K-Pop Band After Failed Notification.”

The BBC introduced New Jeans as “a girl group that debuted in 2022 and quickly became a crossover hit thanks to the club sound of the 1990s, reminiscent of the heyday of TLC, SWV and En Vogue.”

Referring to New Jeans’ live broadcast, which lasted about 30 minutes on the 11th, the article explained, “New Jeans sent an ultimatum (to HYBE) that former CEO Min Hee-jin and Ador should be reinstated by September 25th. When the deadline ended, HYBE refused the request and put a question mark on New Jeans’ next move.”

The BBC detailed the live broadcast that member Hani was told to ignore by another group manager.

The BBC also announced that the expiration of the contract for New Jeans is 2029, saying, “(New Jeans’ live broadcasting) has indicated that New Jeans has no intention of continuing the contract.” The BBC also pointed out, “It is very unusual in the strict Korean music industry, where the artist’s movement is managed in detail.”

In addition, the BBC covered the debut and achievements of New Jeans, as well as the audit and accusation of former CEO Min Heejin of HYBE, the press conference of former CEO Min, and the recent status of New Jeans after former CEO Min Heejin’s dismissal as CEO of Ador.

In particular, △ADOR convened a board of directors and decided to re-elect former CEO Min as an in-house director, and △ did not accept former CEO Min Heejin’s request for reinstatement as CEO, and △ Min said she was offered to a spot as a producer of New Jeans’.

“It is unclear whether New Jeans will accept the new terms (of HYBE). HYBE is expected to regard it as a compromise. New Jeans did not comment on the contract, and Min immediately distributed a press release to ask him to return as CEO,” the BBC said. “K-pop fans are watching the current situation with bated breath.”

Meanwhile, the U.S. weekly Time also reported on the 25th that “the market value of HYBE has decreased by 27% due to their dispute.”
