ILLIT agency filed additional lawsuit against Min Heejin “Temporary disposition has nothing to do with plagiarism.”
ILLIT agency will take another legal action against Min Hee Jin
HYBE-affiliated label BE:LIFT LAB has filed an additional civil suit against Ador CEO Min Hee Jin, who raised suspicions of ILLIT plagiarizing girl group New Jeans.
BE:LIFT Lab said on its official social media on the 10th, “Belift Lab will file additional civil lawsuits today against the damage of artists and employees of Belift Lab who have been holding their breath carrying the yoke of plagiarism, and hold CEO Min Heejin accountable.”
At a press conference earlier, CEO Min Heejin raised suspicions of “copy” by claiming that Belift Lab’s new girl group ILLIT plagiarized New Jeans. In response, Belift confronted CEO Min by accusing her of obstruction of business and defamation at the Yongsan Police Station.
BELIFT LAB explained that the move is separate from the court’s citing Min’s request for a provisional injunction to ban the exercise of HYBE voting rights. They also made it clear that the investigation into alleged obstruction of business and defamation is an area that should be carried out from now on.
“The Seoul Central District Court’s decision to cite the provisional injunction is a decision on an injunction application to prevent HiYBE from exercising his voting rights at the extraordinary shareholders’ meeting, not a ruling on plagiarism,” BELIFT LAB said. “It should not be distorted as if Min Hee-jin’s side won the ruling on plagiarism.”
About Min Heejin mentioning ILLIT
BELIFT LAB also took issue with Min’s demand that ILLIT not be mentioned further during the second press conference.
“One of the pressure measures that CEO Min Hee-jin chose was to denigrate the HYBE label’s rookie group as “copycat” or “Fake,” BELIFT LAB said. “And when asked by a reporter about this, she denied the victims’ time of having to endure criticism because of her remarks, saying, ‘Now (the media or netizens) just have to stop commenting about it.”
The agency added, “Representative Min showed a gesture of reconciliation on the surface at the press conference, but she did not apologize and reflect on the innocent victims who were suffering from serious malicious comments due to her actions.”
