Refute on ILLIT Plagiarism issue

BE:LIFT LAB, the agency of the group ILLIT, refuted former ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin’s claim of “New Jeans Copy.”

BE:LIFT LAB told TenAsia on the 11th, “It is not true that ILLIT plagiarized New Jeans’ plan,” adding, “ILLIT’s branding strategy and concept were finalized and shared internally on July 21, 2023.” “The informant sent the so-called ‘plan’ of New Jeans after that, on August 28, 2023, it cannot affect ILLIT’s concept at this time.”

Earlier in the day, the Civil Agreement Department 50 (senior judge Kim Sang Hoon) of the Seoul Central District Court held an interrogation date for a provisional injunction suit, including the exercise of voting rights filed by Min Heejin against HYBE.

Min Heejin claimed that ILLIT plagiarized New Jeans during the interrogation and disclosed the information of an employee inside HYBE. According to the report, the informant claimed that ILLIT Creative Director received New Jeans’ plan from the beginning of ILLIT’s conception and was surprised that the ILLIT and New Jeans’ plans were the same, saying, “I never imagined that they would make it the same.”

Meanwhile, ILLIT is scheduled to make a comeback with their second mini-album, “I’LL LIKE YOU,” on the 21st.
