“We express regret on Spire Entertainment’s press conference held on March 19, 2024,” IPQ said in an official statement on the 20th, speaking its position on the allegation that member Hwichan sexually harassed Kang Sung Hee, former director of Spire.
First of all, the Omega X official said, “The drinking party where CCTV was released was not a place to resolve the concerns of the members with a warrant to join the military, but a place that was forced by executives in the agency as usual.” IPQ said, “It was forced to comfort former director Kang Sung Hee, who was upset that she was not getting empathy from members on her work,” and revealed the members’ conversations on KakaoTalk.
“Chairman (Hwang Seong Woo) said he would wake up all the members and feed them alcohol,” and “Go to sleep, I’m going today.” The members were getting turns on drinking with executive, and protecting members from the meeting.
On July 11, 2022, when CCTV footage was taken, the Omega X official refuted the claim, saying, “The warrant was issued on August 1 of the same year, and he was notified of his enlistment in mid-September.” As evidence, he released a message from the Military Manpower Administration that was delivered to Hwichan. So they were saying, the fact about the military service is not the truth.
Regarding the most important allegation of forced harassment of former director Kang Sung Hee by Hwichan, the Omega X official claimed, “Former director Kang Sung Hee demanded excessive expression of affection and touch from Huichan as usual after members and executives and employees left their seats, and Hwichan, who was afraid of threatening remarks, verbal abuse, and assault had to follow the instructions.”
“Hwichan fell asleep drunk after being forced to touch several times, and after that, former director Kang Sung Hee took a picture of Hwichan in sleep and sent it to his former manager,” the IPQ, Omega X official agency said. “Even after Hwichan fell asleep, former director Kang continued to yell at Hwichan to wake up, and again demanded physical affection.”
As a result, Hwichan was injured while escaping to the first floor of the company building, and even in that situation, Kang assaulted Hwichan, adding, “The situation lasted up to 5 a.m., and the former manager and member KEVIN, who were worried about Hwichan, returned to the company around 5:45 a.m., and found former CEO Kang Sung Hee, who was taking pictures of herself in front of the lobby mirror on the first floor of the company building, and Hwichan was hiding with the restroom door locked.”
Finally, about Hwichan’s alleged forced harassment, the IPQ requested the release of the entire video, saying, “Please release all CCTV data on the day and the next day of the incident without editing. Not just the place the scene was taken, but please release all materials that can grasp the overall context of the incident, including the conference room on the second floor, the corridor, and the entire first floor.”
“If the released CCTV footage has been restored forensically, it is understood that other CCTVs installed in the office at the time can also be restored and verified, and we will also request the investigative agency to provide evidence,” the official said.
