IZONE Hitomi re-debut as SAY MY NAME!
Hitomi Honda, a former member of the group IZ*ONE, held the hand of senior singer and producer Kim Jaejoong and announced her re-debut as the group SAY MY NAME.
Hitomi attended a media showcase commemorating the release of her debut album “SAY MY NAME” at SBS Public Hall in Deungchon-dong, Gangseo-gu, Seoul on the afternoon of October 15.
It is Hitomi’s third debut as a girl group. Hitomi, who began her singing career as a member of the Japanese group AKB48 Team 8 in 2014, also worked as a member of the group IZ ONE through the Mnet survival program Produce 48 that aired in 2018.
Asked how she felt about her third debut, Hitomi said, “This is my third debut personally. This is a big challenge for me. I think challenging is an opportunity to broaden my potential. If there’s a dream I want to achieve in the future, I want to achieve it without giving up.”

Hitomi said, “I happened to talk deeply with producer Kim Jaejoong. We talked a lot. He’s been active for a long time, but I felt that he was a humble person who was always grateful. Then, I heard that a company called iNKODE Entertainment has a goal of growing to the top.” Kim Jaejoong formerly debuted as SM group, TVXQ and now is a solo singer.
“PD Kim Jaejoong suggested that we can grow together. Everything he said to me at that time touched my heart. I joined because I wanted to start a new dream together,” she added.
She also revealed how she decided to re-debut in Korea. Hitomi said, “I had a good chance to debut as IZ*ONE, so I still wanted to do Korean activities again even when I was active in Japan. It’s been 10 years since I debuted, and I wanted to take on a new challenge. I came back to Korea with the mindset of doing everything I want to do without regretting my once-in-a-lifetime career.”
Say My Name will release its debut album “SAY MY NAME” on various music sites at 6 p.m. on Saturday. Prior to its official debut, the band attended the “Tokyo Girls Collection” on Sunday.
