Jeans member talk about New Jeans
Mexico’s Jeans member Patty Sirvent has expressed her position on allegations of the group New Jeans’ plagiarism.
Patti Sirvent recently released photos of New Jeans and Jeans on her Instagram story and commented, “I love it (me encanta).”
The released photo shows New Jeans dressed in a similar color to Jeans’ costume and styled it side by side, which was claimed as ‘New Jeans Plagiarism.’
At the same time, she responded briefly, “Wow, we weren’t so wrong!” without claiming plagiarism or expressing displeasure with New Jeans, but seemed to show a positive position.
On the 21st, when several comments were posted on the Jeans account asking for answers to the suspicion of plagiarism in New Jeans, Jeans also responded, “We like that the atmosphere is back in trend in 1990 and that sentiment also affects the new generation.”
Jeans and New Jeans Similarity?
Even though the original group is aware of the controversy and does not directly raise the issue, but shows positive response to New Jeans, some still criticize it.
Earlier on January 7th last year, Mexican general magazine El Sigol noted the similarities between the two groups, saying, “It is claimed that New Jeans in Korea was inspired by the Mexican girl group ‘Jins’ in the 90s.” It was claimed that they found quite similarities in visual concepts, such as costumes and hairstyles, as well as the group names of New Jeans and Jeans, as well as promotional photos and music video concepts.
