BTS Jungkook has received his first platinum certification for his first full-length solo album ‘Golden’ by the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ), according to his agency BigHit Music. Jungkook’s Golden has shipped over 250,000 copies as of November, according to the RIAJ.
The RIAJ certifies music based on shipment figures of the physical albums. Any type of albums can earn gold certification for more than 100,000 copies shipped, platinum for 250,000. Over platinum, they just use double and triple. Double platinum for 500,000 and triple platinum for 750,000. When it ships one million copies, it will earn a million certifications.

History of Jungkook and RIAJ

‘Golden’ which was released on November 3rd is Jungkook’s fourth music to be certified by RIAJ. He previously has been certified gold by RIAJ for ‘Euphoria’ and ‘Left and Right’ which he collaborated with Charlie Puth, and ‘Seven’. However, he didn’t have platinum certification. By Jungkook’s Golden, he earned his first ever solo platinum certification.

Golden and Japan

According to BigHit Music, Jungkook’s Golden took over Oricon charts of Japan right after it was released. The album debuted at No. 1 on Oricon Daily Album chart, which sold 205,961 physical copies as it was released. So it was so close to platinum certification as it was released.

On the other hand, Jungkook will start his mandatory military service on Tuesday, December 12, 2023. He will enter the army along with his teammate, Jimin. As BTS Jin, Suga, and J-Hope are in military service, it remains two members. The other remaining members who have not begun their service are RM and V. They will start the day before Jungkook and Jimin enters army. As all members begin their services in 2023, we will be able to see complete BTS in 2025.
