KARD Responds to Comparisons with ALLDAY PROJECT: “We’re 10 Years Apart”

Following the buzz around rookie co-ed group ALLDAY PROJECT, long-standing Kpop coed group KARD addressed rising comparisons in a recent interview. While praising the new group’s talent and energy, KARD emphasized that the two groups differ in concept, age, and stage in their careers. Amid online clashes between parts of the fandoms, KARD called for mutual respect and dismissed any sense of rivalry.

KARD is set to return on July 2 with their 8th mini album DRIFT. Ahead of their comeback, the members spoke to Ilgan Sports, where they commented on the rapid rise of fellow co-ed group ALLDAY PROJECT.

BM shared, “I think they’re really cool. I’m thankful to the brothers at THEBLACKLABEL. Thanks to ALLDAY PROJECT’s debut, KARD is being mentioned more often, and I think our new song ‘Touch’ might receive more love because of that.”

He added, “I only have positive feelings toward them. I sincerely support them and hope they stay healthy and active as an amazing co-ed group for a long time.”

Jeon Somin agreed, saying, “I watched a lot of their performances and they’re really impressive. I think it’s a good sign. Maybe it’s because KARD left a strong impression as a co-ed group that another one was finally able to debut.”

“We’re Not Competitors — We’re 10 Years Apart”

Regarding the growing tensions between some fans of both groups on social media, BM addressed the issue with a smile, saying, “Don’t fight. Let’s love each other. There’s room for everyone.” Jeon Jiwoo added, “There’s really no need to fight. We’re such different teams. Honestly, I don’t even see them as competitors. They’re way younger than us—we’re more than ten years apart. There’s no reason to clash.”

Somin also reflected on what makes KARD members different from ALLDAY PROJECT: “I think it’s the maturity and composure that come with age. You’ll probably see it in our performances. ALLDAY PROJECT brings a youthful, vibrant energy, while our stages carry a cooler, sexier vibe with intensity.”

Meanwhile, DRIFT is an album that continues the story from their previous release Where to Now? (Part.1: Yellow Light). It captures KARD’s journey of moving forward in their own direction, even amidst uncertainty. The title track “Touch” fuses 2000s nostalgia with KARD members’ modern sound, featuring all four members in the lyrics and BM also credited as a composer.

KARD will hold their comeback concert DRIFT on July 19 at YES24 Wonder Hall.
