KATSEYE Asia Promotion starts! The Interview
“Our goal? We will be the world’s No. 1 girl group!”
Global girl group KATSEYE, which was ambitiously introduced by HYBE and Geffenge Records in partnership, will begin its full-fledged activities through the KATSEYE Asia Promotion Tour. As the new girl group has been introduced to the world with a training method based on the “K-pop methodology,” music fans around the world are looking forward to the new history that KATSEYE will write.
At the media day commemorating the KATSEYE debut and Asia promotion tour held at the HYBE headquarters in Yongsan-gu, Seoul on the 11th, KATSEYE Lara said, “It is an honor to start the Asian promotion in Korea,” adding, “I have long dreamed of the moment when I present the stage in the name of Katseye.”
Yoonchae, a Korean member, said, “I’m so happy to come to Korea for an Katseye Asia promotion,” adding, “I’m so happy to appear on a music program that I’ve dreamed of so far.”

The reason why KATSEYE attracts attention from music fans around the world is that it is a girl group produced by a K-pop training system. HYBE, which produced global group BTS, was able to maximize the capabilities of the six KATSEYES members through a systematic K-pop training system.
“There were many difficulties, but there were many good moments and I received a lot of help,” Sophia said about K-pop training. “While receiving training, we tried to improve each other and it was the driving force behind us to take on new challenges,” she said. “The company also provided a lot of support, and I was able to overcome my limitations every moment because I received physical and psychological support.”
“The biggest thing I learned was that I practiced according to strict guidelines,” Lara said. “Thanks to you, I was able to come here now and show you a sharp group dance. I’m looking forward to seeing how much further I can grow.”
KATSEYE’s STRENGTH as the Global Artist
When asked what KATSEYE’s strength is, Manon replied, “It’s a global girl group that represents many countries.” Manon said, “We have our own diversity, and I think there’s something special that only we can provide from different backgrounds. Even if we look around the world, there’s no girl group like us. We expect that we can give you freshness and inspire girls who have similar looks to us.”
In particular, Manon said, “I’m mixed race and grew up in Switzerland, and when I saw the entertainment industry at that time, I thought I couldn’t be (a celebrity) like that because there was no one who looked like me,” adding, “But when girls around the world see KATSEYE, I think there must be someone who feels like him. In that sense, I want to be a role model who can inspire to achieve their dreams enough if they have the will and effort.”

KATSEYE has been growing since its debut. Billboard and Spotify are the most prominent indicators. Its first EP “SIS” recently released entered the Billboard 200 chart for two consecutive weeks, while “Touch,” a double title track, continues to rise sharply on Spotify’s “Daily Top Song Global.”
Daniela said, “It was so amazing that we entered the Billboard 200 chart,” adding, “It hasn’t been long since we debuted, and we’ve only released one album, but it’s amazing that we entered the chart.” Manon said, “It’s a really honorable result to enter the Billboard 200 chart,” and expressed satisfaction, “It’s a clear driving force and motivation that I know that it shines as much as I tried.”
The KATSEYE members expressed their aspiration to become the world’s No. 1 girl group. “The ultimate goal is to become the world’s No. 1 global girl group,” Manon said, adding, “I want to travel around the world to meet EYEKONS (fandom name).” She also expressed her desire to be active in the global festival. “I really want to be on the stage of Coachella and Lollapalooza,” Manon and Lara said. “I want to perform on the head stage someday.”
KATSEYE is a group formed through the audition program “The Debut: Dream Academy,” which aired last year. KATSEYE members, Daniela (U.S.), Lara (U.S.), Manon (Switzerland), Megan (U.S.), Sophia (Philippines), and Yoon Chae (Korea), who were selected through a competition ratio of 6,000 to 1. As the group was formed based on the “K-pop methodology” and representative producers in Korea and the U.S., their high-quality music, outstanding singing skills, relaxed stage manners that are not like rookies, and overwhelming performances are all considered to meet their expectations.
Starting with Mnet’s “M Countdown” on Wednesday, Katseye will appear on Korean music programs one after another. They will then visit the Philippines and Japan to continue KATSEYE Asia promotion tour.
