Kim Soohyun and Gold Medalist official Statement
On March 18, 2025, Kim Soo-hyun’s agency Gold Medalist released an official statement addressing claims made by the bereaved family of the late Kim Sae-ron during their press conference and allegations from the YouTube channel Garo Sero Research Institute.
In their statement, Gold Medalist refuted several accusations and clarified their position on various issues. Notably, the agency asserted that they had paid their respects at Kim Sae-ron’s funeral, contradicting claims that they had not attended. This response comes amidst ongoing controversy surrounding the relationship between Kim Soo-hyun and the late actress, as well as disputes over alleged debts and communication between the parties involved.
- Regarding the claim for damages
· Gold Medalist has never claimed damages from Ms. Kim Sae-ron for any reason.
· As can be confirmed through the full text of the content-certified mail, we did not demand that Ms. Kim Sae-ron compensate for damages to the work. It is also impossible to claim damages for posting photos on SNS or contacting agency actors.
- Regarding forced debt repayment
· We have never forced Ms. Kim Sae-ron to repay the debt.
· Our company and Ms. Kim Sae-ron worked together to resolve the compensation for damages caused by the drunk driving incident, and through various efforts, we reduced the remaining compensation amount to about 700 million won. However, Ms. Kim Sae-ron had difficulties in her activities, and we judged that she was no longer able to repay the debt, so we processed it as a loss coverage in December 2023.
· You can confirm through the audit report on April 1, 2024, that the debt was processed as a loss as of December 31, 2023.
· The second content-certified mail was simply a legal procedure guide, and it only conveyed the intention to discuss the method and schedule of repayment.
- Regarding the prohibition of contact with agency actors
· The content of the second content-certified mail is intended to communicate with the responsible lawyer, not with people who have no legal authority, regarding ‘debt issues’.
· What we said to Ms. Kim Sae-ron about contacting agency actors was not to ask other people in our company “regarding this debt case”. In fact, Ms. Kim Sae-ron freely exchanged contacts with the agency’s actors.
- Relationship with YouTuber Lee Jin-ho
· Gold Medalist has no connection with YouTuber Lee Jin-ho.
· The ‘Kim Sae-ron’s former manager’ claimed by Garo Sero Institute is not affiliated with Gold Medalist, but is a person from another company who worked with Ms. Kim Sae-ron.
- Rumors related to actress Seo Ye-ji
· The claim that Gold Medalist slandered Ms. Seo Ye-ji is not true at all.
· The manager (currently resigned) who was in charge of Ms. Seo Ye-ji at the time was also bewildered by the rumor and contacted our company.
· Please immediately stop spreading false information based on anonymous tips.
- False information spread by the bereaved family and Garo Sero Institute
· The bereaved family and Garo Sero Institute continue to claim content that differs from the facts through press conferences and reports.
· For example, our company paid condolences at the deceased’s funeral, and the person in the photo uploaded to Ms. Kim Sae-ron’s fan SNS account is not Mr. Kim Soo-hyun, but someone else.
Please stop attempting to defame Mr. Kim Soo-hyun based on photos and online posts unrelated to the incident.
