Kpop Demon Hunters OST Hits No. 1 on US iTunes Album Chart as Animated Girl Group Gains Global Popularity

Soundtrack by fictional groups Huntrix and SajaBoys tops charts following Netflix success

The newly released animated film Kpop Demon Hunters is making waves not only on streaming platforms but also on global music charts. Featuring fictional K-pop idol groups Huntrix and Saja Boys, the movie’s official soundtrack album claimed the No. 1 spot on the US iTunes Album Chart as of June 23.

In addition to the album’s success, several individual tracks are also climbing the iTunes Song Chart. Huntrix’s “What It Sounds Like” ranked at No. 16, followed by “Golden” at No. 25 and “How It’s Done” at No. 32. LionBoyz’s tracks “Your Idol” and “Soda Pop” came in at No. 29 and No. 59, respectively.

The soundtrack, produced by Teddy and The Black Label team, is drawing praise for its high-quality production, rivaling real-life K-pop releases.

Netflix’s No. 1 Film Now Tops Music Charts Too

Kpop Demon Hunters was released on June 20 and quickly rose to No. 1 on Netflix’s Global Top Movies list, according to data from FlixPatrol. As of June 24, the film remained at the top spot for the third consecutive day.

The animated action-fantasy tells the story of global K-pop girl group Huntrix—members RUMI, MIRA, and ZOEY—who double as secret demon-fighting heroes behind their glamorous stage personas.

The film was produced by Sony Pictures Animation, known for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and co-directed by Korean Canadian director Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans. Korean actor Ahn Hyo-seop voiced the character Jinu, leader of the reaper boy group Saja Boyz, while Lee Byung-hun voiced the demonic villain Gwima in both English and Korean.

With its dynamic storyline and strong musical performance, Kpop Demon Hunters is proving that fictional idol groups can compete with real-world K-pop stars on both the screen and the charts.
