However, the article’s title included the word “labor,” which some individuals misinterpreted without reading the content. This prompted criticism online, with detractors focusing solely on the title rather than engaging with the article itself. The backlash spread further when fans defended Doyoung, urging critics to read the article before forming opinions.
NCT Doyoung’s Response
In response to the controversy, NCT Doyoung posted a reflective message late that evening, addressing both the misunderstanding and his perspective on taking responsibility. He wrote in Bubble:
“It seems that some people felt uncomfortable due to misunderstandings caused by the title of the article I shared in my story. I thought it wouldn’t be right to stay silent about this… To add a few words, I think it’s my fault. It was an article I shared because I liked the content so much, but I seem to have overlooked the possibility that others might not interpret it as deeply as I did.”
Doyoung expressed regret for unintentionally creating an opportunity for misunderstandings and apologized to both fans and the journalist who wrote the article. He emphasized the importance of taking responsibility and reflecting on one’s actions, even if it might feel heavy.
“If taking responsibility and apologizing can help ensure that no one feels uncomfortable, then I believe it’s the right thing for me to do.”
