NCTWISH SONGBIRD Interview
Q. Please introduce NCT WISH new song, “Songbird”. What is the charm of this song?
- Yushi: “Songbird” is a song that goes very well in summer because of its refreshing vocals and fast tempo beats. I think the lyrics, melody, and a bird delivering wish concept that conveys good luck go well with the team’s color.
- Sion: I want to show you the refreshing charm and spirit of NCT WISH. We’ve prepared a lot to ease the tension and show you a little more growth compared to our debut song, “WISH”, so please look forward to it!
Q. How did you feel when you first heard the new song, “Songbird”? What’s the point to listen to?
- Sion: It’s cool and dreamy, so I thought it would look really good on us.
- Jaehee: I thought it was a perfect song for summer. However, the song was so difficult that I felt like I was scolded by the song when I first heard it. However, it was our type of song. Please listen to it a lot!
- Sakuya: The guitar sound of the intro and the refreshing popping part of the chorus are the points of ‘Songbird’.
Q. NCT WISH’s song is refreshing but powerful. Please introduce your performance.
- Yushi: To describe this performance in one word, it’s fun to watch. There are so many outstretched movements that make others feel cool and like they are flying. I think we will be able to show audience a refreshing performance that goes well with the summer!
- Jaehee: The point is to express the wings of the bird. Especially before the dance break, I think it’s really cool when it feels like it’s being blown away by the wind and then suddenly changes into power.
- Ryo: I think we’ll be able to show you a cute yet mysterious charm with our “Songbird” performance. Please look forward to it as you’ll be able to see a variety of NCT WISHs who have grown up a little more!

Q. Producer BoA also participated in this single, do you have any memorable directing or advice by BoA?
- Sion: When we first prepared for it, she said that it would be nice if we could show each member’s charms better. I think those parts were reflected in the songs and performances.
- Riku: When we were recording “Songbird” on a Japanese music show, she came and directed each one of us. She advised me to make sounds more comfortable when rapping, but I think I’ve been able to do it a little better since then.
- Yushi: She came all the way to a Japanese music program to cheer for us. I was a little nervous to see our producer, but I was able to perform even better because I felt a strong sense of trust.
- Jaehee: She told me that she wanted me to position the sound more accurately when I was doing live, and she did vocal coaching herself, by her help it got better right away, so I remember the point.
- Ryo: I sent her a recording that we practiced before we started recording “Songbird,” and I was glad that producer BoA said, “Ryo has a good voice tone.”
- Sakuya: While watching our performance, she directed each member meticulously, and it was an opportunity to learn again because she caught things that I couldn’t recognize by myself.
Q. What should we focus on to watch the “Songbird” music video? Is there any memorable episode while filming it?
- Ryo: The music video will come out in two versions, Korean and Japanese. The main story is about how we, who were novice Cupid in our debut song “WISH,” grow up to become a wish delivery man who conveys good luck and hope.
- Riku: The Japanese version is based on the story, so you can enjoy it if you focus on our acting. And the Korean version has a lot of group dance scenes to focus on the performance. It’s complete with new charms, so please watch both!
- Yushi: This music video lasted for four days and I think we had a lot of fun. Among them, there was a scene where we were all in the car, and it was so fun just to be together that we kept smiling. That was the most memorable scene.
