plagiarism accusation on New Jeans Bubble Gum

Suspicions have been raised that the group New Jeans’ “Bubble Gum” plagiarized the British band Shakatak’s song “Easier Said Than Done.” The controversy seems to be intensifying as Shakatak responds to the alleged plagiarism.

Shakatak said on social media on the 19th, “I am grateful that Korean friends and fans gave their opinions on the recent use of ‘Easier Said Than Done’ in some songs,” adding, “Our publishing company Wise Music Group is dealing with the case, and we have also hired a musicologist to investigate it in more detail.”

According to the music industry, Wise Music Group reported its position on the alleged plagiarism of “Bubble Gum” to Ador, HYBE, and the Korea Music Copyright Association last month.

New Jeans’ agency, Ador, denied the alleged plagiarism and asked Wise Music Group to submit a credible report on the alleged plagiarism.
