NewJeans How Sweet Ranks 35th in Rolling Stone’s Best Songs of 2024
K-pop sensation NewJeans continues to make waves in the global music scene. Their hit single “How Sweet” has secured the 35th spot on Rolling Stone’s prestigious “The 100 Best Songs of 2024” list, released on December 3.
The American music magazine praised NewJeans for their consistent delivery of experimental, fresh, and original music since their 2022 debut. Rolling Stone highlighted the group’s unique approach to K-pop, noting, “The contrast is the energetic electro-pop beat with the bright and resonant vocals”.
“How Sweet” has garnered attention beyond Rolling Stone. PopMatters recently included the track in their “15 Best K-Pop Songs of 2024” list, describing it as “another incredible highlight in NewJeans’ discography”. The media outlet commended the group’s natural charm and their ability to push boundaries in the K-pop industry.

NewJeans’ Rising Popularity in Japan
NewJeans’ influence extends to Japan, where they ranked third in the musicianship category of Yahoo! JAPAN’s “Yahoo! Search Awards 2024”. This achievement, based on search data, places NewJeans among top local artists like Number_i and Mrs. GREEN APPLE, showcasing their growing popularity in the Japanese market.
The group’s success in Japan is further evidenced by their record-breaking entry into Tokyo Dome, achieved just 1 year and 11 months after their debut – the shortest time for any foreign artist. Their Japanese debut single “Supernatural,” released in June, earned them the Best Work Award at the 66th Japan Record Awards.
Fans can catch NewJeans on Fuji TV’s ‘FNS Song Festival,’ a major year-end special program in Japan, scheduled for December 4.
