NewJeans New Name becomes NJZ Amidst ADOR Dispute – “We Won’t Give Up Our Original Name, We Will Win the Battle against ADOR” on 7th
NewJeans, now known as NJZ, has officially changed their group name amidst ongoing legal disputes with their former agency, ADOR. In a recent CNN interview, the members shared their thoughts on this decision and their future plans.
Reason for Name Change
Member Hanni explained that the name change is a way to make their challenging situation more exciting. She emphasized that they are working hard to resolve all issues and return to normal. The group clarified that they do not want their career to be defined by the legal conflict with ADOR.
The original name “NewJeans” carries a dual meaning, symbolizing “New Genes” and the timeless nature of jeans. Despite changing their name to NJZ, they stated that they are not completely abandoning their original name. NJZ is seen as a way to maintain the essence of their previous identity while moving forward.

Legal Disputes with ADOR
Daniel expressed that they have lost trust in ADOR and are confident they will prevail in their legal battle against both HYBE and ADOR. Hani added that nothing can stop them now, highlighting their determination to continue their activities independently.
Upcoming Activities
NewJeans, now NJZ, is set to perform at the ComplexCon Hong Kong festival in March, where they will debut a new song with a unique sound. Hani mentioned that their new style will be sharper and bolder, moving away from their previous “girl-next-door” image. They aim to incorporate street fashion and gender-neutral clothing into their new concept.
The group has been focusing on creating new music and preparing for performances. Their confidence and enthusiasm for their future endeavors are evident as they embark on this new chapter as NJZ.
