NJZ to Appeal Court Decision, Will Proceed with Hong Kong Schedule

NJZ-NewJeans (Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, Hyein) has announced their intention to appeal the recent court decision regarding their contract with ADOR. The group also confirmed they will continue with their scheduled appearance in Hong Kong.

Key Points of NJZ’s Response

  1. Respect for Court Decision: The group stated they respect the court’s ruling but believe it doesn’t fully consider the breakdown of trust between the members and ADOR.
  2. Planned Appeal: NewJeans will file an objection to the injunction, aiming to address additional issues in the dispute.
  3. Ongoing Main Lawsuit: A separate lawsuit to confirm the validity of the exclusive contract is still in progress, with a court date set for April 3.
  4. Hong Kong Schedule Maintained: Despite the court ruling, NewJeans will participate in the ComplexCon event in Hong Kong on March 23.

Official Statement from NJZ-NewJeans

Hello, this is NJZ.

Today, there was a court decision on the injunction. We, NJZ, respect the court’s decision. However, we believe this decision does not sufficiently consider the complete breakdown of trust between the members and ADOR. Due to the nature of preservation measures that need to be carried out quickly, the decision was made just about two weeks after the hearing date of March 7, 2025, and we did not have sufficient opportunity to explain all the specific facts to the court.

Also, due to information asymmetry, while ADOR and HYBE have all the information about the members’ entertainment activities, the members have to contact related parties individually to request information. There were also cases where many people couldn’t cooperate due to the pressure of being involved in the lawsuit and fear of retaliation.

We plan to contest additional issues through the objection procedure regarding today’s injunction decision, and in the process, we plan to supplement and contest the explanatory materials as much as possible. Above all, until the termination of the exclusive contract, the members have only faithfully fulfilled the contract and have not committed any fault, while ADOR and HYBE behind it have continuously treated the members unfairly and discriminatorily, breaking trust. We believe it’s only a matter of time before the truth becomes clear.

An injunction is a temporary decision.

There is also an ongoing main lawsuit between ADOR and the members to confirm the effectiveness of the exclusive contract, and we will once again state that the contract was legally terminated at the trial date scheduled for April 3. Unlike the injunction procedure, in the main case, we can more freely utilize the system under the Civil Procedure Act to secure necessary evidence, so we expect that evidence supporting the members’ claims will be greatly reinforced through this as well.

The NJZ members are going through a difficult time, but as they have done so far, they are trying to overcome this situation calmly and composedly, thinking of BUNNIES and many people who support NJZ. NJZ values promises with fans above all else, and to communicate with fans with a happier heart, we will do our best in the remaining legal proceedings. As we have repeatedly said before, we once again state that we cannot be with a company that insults our personality and disparages our achievements, regardless of financial issues. The reason we are proceeding with the lawsuit is to protect our values and human rights.

Meanwhile, we have decided to reluctantly participate in the ComplexCon concert scheduled for March 23 after much consideration to prevent unexpected damage to fans who are looking forward to the concert and many related parties.

Please continue to watch over us and give us your support.
