Oh My Girl University Festival, the incident?
On May 22nd, Oh My Girl had a performance at Sunmoon University. The performance was flawless without any troubles, however the problem occurred after they left the stage. The MC asked if there is anyone who would participate in a talent show. Some students came up and showed their talents, surprisingly the MC gave them a ‘a bottle of water that Oh My Girl members were used to drink.’ He said it was a prize for the students.
He eventually apologized after criticism poured out to the university after distributed bottled water bottles that the group Oh My Girl was drinking as prizes to students. He made sure that it was his fault, not the students or the school.
As controversy spread, the MC made an apology through its official channel. The MC apologized, saying, “What I did because I thought it would be celebrated with my wrong idea is causing harm to someone. Students who had a talent show yesterday came out to receive a gift, not a water bottle, but some students were embarrassed because the gift was OH MY GIRL’s water bottle.”
The university’s student council also said, “This is an unexpected action by the MC that has not been discussed with the school and the performers,” adding, “We will thoroughly manage it to prevent future unsavory incidents.”
