Olivia Marsh Plagiarism Controversy occurred and Her actions

Singer-songwriter Olivia Marsh, the older sister of NJZ (formerly NewJeans) member Danielle, has admitted to plagiarism allegations surrounding her song “Backseat”, one of the title tracks from her debut album “Meanwhile.” American artist Isaac Dunbar claimed that “Backseat” bore striking similarities to his 2019 track “Onion Boy.”

In response, Marsh’s agency MPLIFY acknowledged the validity of Dunbar’s claims and reached an amicable settlement, including adjustments to songwriting credits and composition shares to ensure Dunbar’s rights are protected. MPLIFY issued a public apology to Dunbar and fans, vowing to improve internal review systems to prevent similar incidents in the future. Marsh also expressed regret over the situation and assured fans of her commitment to fostering creativity and respect within the music industry.

Tsk…

07:09
The title was good, but why did this happen?

07:12
Sigh.

07:18
Wow… It’s not even a song she received from someone else; she claimed it as her own composition, and now it’s plagiarism??

07:29
Unbelievable.

07:41
Did she want to be called a genius so badly that she copied a genius’s work?

07:43
It sounded way too similar… Did they think no one would notice?

07:54
Claiming it’s a self-composed song… How embarrassing.

07:54
I listened to it, and it’s practically identical.

08:00
Wow, I happened to like the song and was listening to it often, but I just found out now that she’s Danielle’s sister and that it’s plagiarism…

08:18
I didn’t know either of them before, but apparently, the plagiarist is Danielle’s sister, and she studied composition at Melbourne University. She set an unprecedented record by making her debut album’s title track a plagiarized song. She even shared a backstory about how she composed the song herself, but turns out it was all lies—so ridiculous. There were multiple composers credited on the song; how did they manage to copy an entire track? Did they communicate telepathically or something?

Also, why hasn’t she apologized personally? Her family should stop focusing only on other idols’ plagiarism controversy and pay attention to whether their own family member is plagiarizing or not. People criticized LE SSERAFIM for just a few songs; if this is full-on plagiarism, shouldn’t there be at least hundreds of posts about it? Otherwise, it’s hypocritical.

(The original composer is a younger American singer-songwriter than the plagiarist.) But why is the original composer being attacked and apologizing after posting on X? Why is the person who raised the plagiarism issue being forced to apologize instead of the plagiarist? They only added him to the credits after he made it public—would they have issued an official apology if he had contacted them privately?

Wait, the original composer apologized? Seriously…
Did her fans swarm others again? Wow.

08:25
Danielle from NewJeans has a sister? I thought she was just some foreign artist lol.

08:55
She fabricated an entire backstory for her plagiarism—so hardworking in all the wrong ways.

09:19
I listened to Olivia Marsh’s song, and it really does sound exactly like Onion Boy… No conscience at all.

09:26
It’s basically copy-paste level plagiarism. She promoted herself as a singer-songwriter, but this is too much. Since this started overseas first, what an embarrassment this must be.
