The group Omega X announced that its exclusive contract with its former agency, Spire Entertainment, has been declared invalid. Omega X and Spire Entertainment conflicts.
Omega X and Spire Ent. Contract Ends by the court
On the 1st, the current agency of Omega X, IPQ, issued an official statement, saying, “On March 27th, the Korea Commercial Arbitration Board finally ruled that Spire Entertainment’s wife, Kang, who was an in-house director and chairman of Spire Entertainment Hwang, lost the validity of the exclusive contract and terminated the contract due to the violation of Spire Entertainment’s obligation to guarantee personal rights.”
The agency then explained, “Acknowledging the considerable mental damage suffered by Omega X members due to Kang’s breach of contract and illegal activities, the claim for damages was ruled just.”
The arbitrator stated, “The tampering issue is difficult to see that a direct relationship is recognized in judging the validity of the contract, and the rest of the circumstances are not enough reasons to resume the closed hearing.”
“Until recently, Spire Entertainment has even pushed ahead with illegal press conferences, inflicting second and third assaults on its members,” IPQ said. “Kang’s assault case (against the members) has been sent to the prosecution and a complementary investigation is underway, and the forced harassment case is also under police investigation.”
“In addition, defamation and business obstruction caused by the spread of false information by Spire Entertainment Chairman Hwang, Kang and officials, and a YouTuber are also under investigation,” the official said.
“We urge you to stop spreading false information or slandering without reason, and we will continue to take legal action and take strong action without leniency to ensure that unreasonable and illegal acts committed by Spire Entertainment and anyone involved in this matter are punished properly.”
In October of 2022, Kang’s abusive language and assault rumors against Omega X members were raised through social medias. At the time, Spire explained that it was a misunderstanding, but controversy continued as Omega X did not make the scheduled return flight.
Afterwards, Omega X received an injunction against Spire to suspend his contract, and at a press conference in November 2022, Omega X claimed that they had been sexually assaulted, verbally abused, and habitually molested by Kang, saying, “We forced to drink alcohol after the practice, and she used her position as CEO to touch our thighs, hold hands, and touch our faces.” They also sued Kang for sexual harassment in August last year.
Meanwhile, Spire Entertainment Chairman Hwang held a press conference on March 19. He held the conference to release a CCTV clip of 2 a.m. on July 11, 2022, showing a man touching body parts of a woman sitting opposite him, saying that his wife, Kang was forcibly harassed by Omega X’s Hwichan.
Omega X and Spire Entertainment’s controversies are still ongoing. However, at least Omega X exclusive contract with Spire Entertainment has ended, one of the controversy has ended.
