The group POW reinterprets the No. 1 song on the Billboard chart.
On the 8th, POW released the name of his second EP album and title song on the group’s official social media channel, signaling the love confession of the five boys.
According to the released title poster, the second EP album, ‘Boyfriend’ will include the title song Boyfriend of the same name. Boyfriend is a remake of Avril Lavigne’s hit song ‘Girlfriend,’ which was released in 2007, and it will be the song that people can see the energetic energy of the original song and the sweet and fresh sensibility of POW.
“Girlfriend” is a teen-pop song that depicts a girl trying to have a man who already has a girlfriend, and topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart at the time of its release. The music video was greatly loved around the world, achieving 100 million views for the first time on YouTube and setting a Guinness World Record. Avril Lavigne is considered a leading teen-pop star in the 2000s through her tomboy rocker image. POW wants to take over Avril Lavigne’s baton, suggesting a new direction for teen-pop.
POW, who showed a pure and transparent love confession through the group’s previous work “Valentine,” transforms into a spirited boy in their second EP album, giving off a more colorful charm to become the only “boyfriend” of global fans.
