SFMOMA and RM Announce “RM x SFMOMA,” a Five-Month Exhibition Featuring 200 Works

BTS leader RM will make history as the first K-pop artist to present a solo art collection at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA).

On October 3, BIGHIT MUSIC announced that SFMOMA will host a special exhibition titled “RM x SFMOMA” from October 2026 to February 2027. The showcase will feature around 200 pieces, including artworks personally collected by RM and pieces from the museum’s own collection.

Established in 1935, SFMOMA is one of the world’s leading contemporary art museums. This marks the museum’s first collaboration with a K-pop artist, and notably, RM will personally curate the entire exhibition, bringing his artistic vision and collector’s sensibility to the forefront.

RM has built a reputation as a serious art collector, supporting both Korean modern masters and internationally renowned artists.
BIGHIT MUSIC described the exhibition as “a meaningful opportunity to organically connect the context of both collections while offering a deeper look into RM’s artistic sensitivity and collecting philosophy.”

In a statement, RM shared,

“We live in an era defined by boundaries. I hope this exhibition becomes a reflection on the boundaries between East and West, Korea and the U.S., the modern and the contemporary, the personal and the universal. I want it to serve as a small but solid bridge for communication through art.”

SFMOMA’s Chief Curator Janet Bishop added,

“Visitors will have an unprecedented opportunity to experience the dialogue between RM’s thoughtful, beautiful collection and SFMOMA’s own works.”

The museum-led collaboration highlights how RM’s influence extends far beyond music, representing K-pop’s growing presence in global art and culture.
Through “RM x SFMOMA,” he bridges modern art, cultural heritage, and contemporary expression—cementing his place as one of the most influential Korean artists of his generation.
