SEVENTEEN UNESCO ambassador!

Group Seventeen has been appointed as a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Youth.

Today (11th), the agency Pledis Entertainment said, “Seventeen is the first K-pop artist to serve as an official Goodwill ambassador to UNESCO.”

UNESCO appoints a person with a world-renowned reputation in various fields of society as a goodwill ambassador. It aims to increase the interest and participation of people around the world in UNESCO’s ideology and activities.

Vocalist and conductor Placido Domingo, Real Madrid footballer Vinicius Junior, and Spanish actor Rossy de Palma have served as UNESCO Goodwill ambassadors.

Seventeen and UNESCO have been promoting the #GoingTogether campaign to inform the importance of education together. The campaign, which was launched in August 2022 by Pledis Entertainment and UNESCO Korea Committee, has produced results such as the construction of two regional learning centers in East Timor and supporting education in Malawi.

In addition, in November last year, Seventeen attended the 13th “UNESCO Youth Forum” held at UNESCO headquarters and met with youth representatives from 170 countries. Members were assigned a special session here and delivered a message that “solidarity and education between young people change the future of youth and the planet.”

Meanwhile, Seventeen will attend the appointment ceremony of the youth ambassador at UNESCO headquarters in Paris, France, at 10 a.m. on the 26th (5 p.m. Korean time). On this day, the members will meet with UNESCO Secretary-General Audrey Azoulay to have a conversation, and through a speech accepting the goodwill ambassador, they will reveal their detailed plans and impressions.
