SHINee Fans Launch Hashtag Campaign Against SHINee Onew Amid 2017 Controversy
Recently, SHINee fans initiated a hashtag campaign on Twitter, calling for the group to continue activities without leader Onew. The campaign features hashtags such as #온유탈퇴해 (#Onew_Leave), #온유샤이니활동반대 (#Oppose_Onew_SHINee_Activities), and #성범죄자연예계_퇴출 (#Expel_SexOffenders_From_Entertainment). Fans argue that SHINee has previously demonstrated their ability to perform effectively as a three-member group during Onew’s absence, pointing to past performances and group activities that successfully showcased their versatility without all four members.
This renewed discussion comes in light of Onew’s past controversy from 2017, when he was accused of sexual harassment after allegedly inappropriately touching a woman at a club in Gangnam while intoxicated. Although the charges were dismissed by prosecutors in April 2018, the incident has resurfaced in conversations among fans.

One of the initial hashtag campaign tweet earned 1M views, and over 4 thousands retweets. It was a tweet saying, because of ONEW the group has suffered a lot of losses.

Not just about Onew’s drinking issue, but some even pointed out that he is not loyal to his members.
“You saying you were disappointed at members for not mentioning ONEW at ‘Hard’ activity? I was disappointed because Onew didn’t mention ‘Hard’ topping music shows. Also, I felt let down because he didn’t make any appearances while the other members were doing their solo concerts. Even if he couldn’t attend due to scheduling conflicts, I thought he might at least send a coffee truck or mention their hard work, but he didn’t do anything, which made me feel disappointed.” @xoalshifty
