SHINee Taemin for Road to Kingdom 2!
Group SHINee member and solo artist Taemin has been selected as the MC of Road to Kingdom.
Mnet announced on the 17th that Taemin will appear as the sole MC for the new season of Road to Kingdom, which will return in 2024.
Road to Kingdom season 2 will come back after a rebranding in 2024. Unlike its predecessor, which was close to a pre-qualifying program to qualify for its follow-up Kingdom, this time it plans to exclusively brand Road to Kingdom as part of Mnet’s independent K-pop boy group Rising Project, which re-examines boy groups with full skills and potential.
While the lineup of seven teams, including The New Six, The Crew One ( collaboration of ATBO and JUST B), 8Turn, Oneus, Younite, CRAVITY, and Tempest, has been revealed earlier, expectations for the new season of Road to Kingdom are ripe as news of Taemin’s selection as an MC has spread. In particular, SHINee Taemin is known to be challenging to become a solo MC for the first time since his debut through Road to Kingdom, drawing more attention.
The “Road to Kingdom season 2” production team said, “There was no other MC candidate than Taemin,” adding, “As a senior and role model who will be a model for junior boy groups, there will be a story that Taemin can tell.”
Taemin is the main dancer of the group SHINee and a male solo performer representing the entire generation of K-pop. Since debuting at the age of 14 in 2008, he has been actively engaged in global activities as a member of SHINee, and since 2014, he has solidified his position as a solo artist with hits such as “Danger,” “MOVE,” “WANT,” and “Guilty.”
