SM Q1 2024 plan and their achievement of Q3 2023
SM Entertainment (SM, CEO Jang Chul Hyuk) achieved record-high performance in the third quarter of this year,2023. The artists will continue to work hard next year. SM said on November 8, “In the third quarter of this year, consolidated operating profit was KRW 50.5 billion and sales were KRW 266.3 billion.” This is an increase of 70% and 12%, respectively, compared to the same period of last year. Both operating profit and sales were the highest on a quarterly basis. It led the highest performance in the third quarter due to the active activities of artists, such as NCT DREAM, aespa, and RIIZE.Their increased sales of records and music sources and offline concerts were the reasons of the increase.
By the business
Sales of new albums released in the third quarter reached 8.71 million, far exceeding 4.15 million in the same period last year, marking the highest quarterly album sales. NCT DREAM (4.32 million copies) recorded a quadruple million seller, while EXO, NCT, and RIIZE also achieved million sellers. SM is expected to show good sales trends in album and music in the fourth quarter of this year and the first quarter of next year, too. Starting with NCT 127’s fifth full-length album comeback last month, RIIZE released its single ‘Talk Sexy’ on October 27. In November, WayV’s second full-length album, followed by its fourth aespa mini album and third full-length Red Velvet album. In December, NCT 127’s single and TVXQ’s 9th full-length album will be released.
SM Q1 2024 Plan
Their hard work won’t stop even in 2024. SM Q1 2024 plan is full. aespa will release their English album and a single as the start of the year. NCT New Team will have official debut with a single in Korean, and Japanese. RIIZE will continue its hard work and it seems they will have their single in Japanese, which could be their official debut in Japan. NCT Dream will be back with the mini album. And as in distinct characteristics, it seems the company will concentrate in solo artists. Suho, Wendy, Taeyong, Ten and Hyo is getting ready to release their tracks.
Of course, the plans can be changed, but it is exciting news for fans!
