Battle between Source Music and Min Heejin

Source Music, the agency of LE SSERAFIM, filed a 500 million damage suit against Min Hee-jin, CEO of Ador.

According to the legal community on the 15th, Source Music recently filed a lawsuit to the Seoul Western District Court to compensate CEO Min for damages worth 500 million won for damages caused by defamation, obstruction of business and insults.

In the case of the litigation price, it is set for part of the damage suffered by Source Music, so there is room for further increase.

Source Music is known to have raised three major issues in its complaint. ▲Representational Min claims that she casted the members of New Jeans herself ▲Representational that the agency unilaterally violated the promise to let her group debut as the first girl group in HYBE ▲Source Music neglected the members of New Jeans.

It is widely known that some of the members of New Jeans were trainees of Source Music. Min Hee Jin claimed that Source Music neglected them and raised the issue of LE SSERAFIM’s debut before New Jeans.

At the first press conference on April 25, he said, “We were neglected when we were managing at Source,” and “Everyone was lured by the word, HYBE’s first girl group, and Min Heejin, and came in.”

Source Music claimed that CEO Min Hee Jin’s remarks caused rumors about LE SSERAFIM as a “girl group that received preferential treatment and damaged other teams” and suffered severe malicious comments.

Accordingly, Source Music reportedly secured evidence to prove that Min’s remarks were false and submitted it with the complaint.

Evidence reportedly includes the delayed debut schedule of New Jeans, which Min Hee Jin was preparing for by handling things late as a brand manager, the circumstances in which Min recognized and acknowledged that LE SSERAFIM would debut before New Jeans, and cases of damage caused by malicious comments.

Min Heejin and Lawsuit

Not only Source Music but also ILLIT agency, BE:LIFT Lab, filed additional civil lawsuits against CEO Min last month, refuting allegations of plagiarism in New Jeans, accusing her of obstruction of business and defamation.

BE:LIFT LAB criticized CEO Min Hee Jin for scapegoating an innocent rookie group, ILLIT, by denigrating the HYBE label’s rookie group as sub-class or copy to pressure HYBE.

On the 9th, CEO Min’s first accused investigation was conducted. On April 26, HYBE filed a complaint with Yongsan Police Station in Seoul to investigate CEO Min on charges of professional breach of trust, saying, “We have confirmed specific facts that a plan to take over the management rights of Ador has been established led by CEO Min Hee-jin.” Since then, CEO Min attended Yongsan Police Station in Seoul on the 9th and was investigated for about eight hours.

Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency Commissioner Jo Ji-ho said in a regular press conference held at the presidential office in central Seoul on Tuesday, “We have not confirmed all the details to be confirmed during the investigation of Min. Further investigation is needed.” In addition, if Min’s allegations are found, Hive is also reportedly considering additional civil lawsuits.
