Stray Kids Hollow Album Sells 730,000 Copies in First Week — Highest First-Week Sales for a 4th-Gen K-pop Group
Stray Kids Sets New Record in Japan with ‘Hollow’
Stray Kids has achieved a record-breaking milestone with their latest Japanese mini album. According to data compiled from June 16 to 22, their third Japanese EP Hollow, released on June 18, sold over 730,000 copies in its first week, topping the Billboard Japan Top Album Sales chart.
The album also secured No. 1 on the Oricon Weekly Album Ranking and Oricon Combined Album Ranking, highlighting the group’s growing influence in the Japanese market.
This marks Stray Kids’ highest first-week album sales to date, and it’s now the best first-week sales for a 4th-generation K-pop group in Japan. Notably, Stray Kids is also the first international artist this year to sell over 500,000 copies in their first week in Japan.
The album has performed well digitally as well. Hollow topped the overall album charts on both Apple Music Japan and iTunes Japan, and also reached No. 1 on iTunes album charts in 21 international regions, including Canada and Brazil.
This release marks the group’s first all-original Japanese album since their debut in the country nearly three years ago. Every track on the album was written in Japanese, and members Bang Chan, Changbin, and Han—who make up the in-house producing team 3RACHA—participated in the album’s production from start to finish.
The music video for the title track “Hollow” also generated buzz, ranking No. 1 on YouTube’s Worldwide Trending Music Videos on the day of its pre-release, June 11.
