Straykids 5 consecutive 1st Place!

Stray Kids topped the Billboard 200 chart with their new album “ATE.” It is the fifth time in their career that they have topped the Billboard 200 chart.

According to a chart preview article released by the U.S. music media Billboard on the 29th, Stray Kids’ new album, “Ate,” which was released on the 19th, recorded 232,000 album units and entered the Billboard 200 (July 3). As a result, Stray Kids has recorded five consecutive albums, starting with “Odinary” in 2022, “Maxident,” “Five Star,” “Rock Star” and “Ait,” as the best record in Billboard 200. In the history of K-pop, only BTS (six consecutive albums) has recorded a record of surpassing the first place in five consecutive Billboard 200s recorded by Stray Kids.

Billboard 200 ranks album consumption by summing up the sales of traditional albums such as physical albums, the number of streams converted into album sales (SEA), and the number of digital music downloads converted into album sales (TEA).

Stray Kids’ 232,000 album units are the highest among K-pop albums released this year. It is also the sixth-largest debut record among all albums this year. The number of albums sold is 218,000, while that of SEA is 13,000 and TEA is 1,000.

Billboard said, “Ate lyrics are mostly in Korean,” adding, “It is the 25th non-English album of all time to rank No. 1 and the second album this year after Twice’s With You-th.”

BTS Jimin’s second solo album “MUSE” ranked second with 96,000 album units.

Billboard pointed out, “It is the first time that a K-pop album ranked first and second on the Billboard 200.”
