While the group Seventeen was embroiled in a controversy over its expensive album, the agency explained that there was an error in the notation.
SVT Deluxe Album Price was a mistake!
“The album (Deluxe Ver.) was first planned as a limited edition with a special composition to commemorate the release of Seventeen’s best album,” the agency Pledis Entertainment said on its fan platform Weverse on the 7th. “In the preparation process, the composition and price were changed as the planning direction was revised so that more fans could enjoy it rather than scarcity in line with the purpose of the best album.”
“However, due to an operational error, the price was misguided to the distributor at the price initially planned rather than the final price, resulting in an error in marking the price on the sales page,” he said. “We were unable to notify the distributor of the price error faster because it took time to discuss ways to change the price notation and deal with refunds.”
“From 5 p.m. (KST), the sales price mark on the sales page will be corrected, and those who have already completed their purchase will be informed of refund processing and repayment at each sales office,” the announcement said.
Finally, the agency said, “I sincerely apologize for causing confusion related to the precious best album that fans have been waiting for a long time,” and added, “We will do our best to reorganize our internal processes to prevent such errors from occurring in the future.”
Seventeen released its best album “17 is Right Here” on April 29. Since then, the company has introduced a deluxe version since July 7, with the regular price around 200,000 won and the discount around 170,000 won, sparking controversy over its high price. After the announcement was made, the price has changed. So the SVT Deluxe album price went down to $60 USD from $150.
Do Koreans buy the explanation?
Even though Pledis Entertainment made an explanation about the SVT Deluxe Album price issue, not everyone is buying the excuse. There are some tweets going viral, which are actually near to sarcasm. These are some of those.
- They must trusted that lunatics will buy and kept their mouth wide open, but it seems they sold a very little amount as they are making a comedy f*ck ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
- This is how the teachers felt when I lied that I left my homework at home
- f*ck this is my first time seeing K-pop fans’ boycott actually worked to lower the price
So even though Pledis gave the explanation, many Korean netizens are thinking that the agency lowered the price of SVT Deluxe Album because no one was buying, and they meant the price ($150 USD). How do you think?
